1. What the site is, and isn't

UsedScore rates used-car model years from public data, mainly owner complaints, recalls and manufacturer communications published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), with sales figures from automakers' published reports. How we rate explains every step. We are not affiliated with NHTSA or any automaker.

It is information, not advice. A rating compares a model's years with each other using complaints owners chose to file with NHTSA. It is not a safety rating, a vehicle inspection, a history report, or a statement that any vehicle, model or part is defective. Complaints are owners' own reports, and NHTSA doesn't verify each one. Nothing on UsedScore is legal, financial, mechanical or buying advice, and no rating tells you the condition of a particular car.

Check the car in front of you. Before you buy, have a used car inspected by a qualified mechanic and check its VIN for open recalls on NHTSA's recall lookup.

Summaries are written with AI. Short descriptions of what owners report are written with artificial intelligence from the complaint text and checked automatically before they're published, but they can still be incomplete or wrong. Quotes are copied word for word from owner complaints and are the owners' words, not ours.

2. Who can use it

UsedScore is intended for people in the United States. If you are under 18, use it with the permission of a parent or guardian.

3. Our content and how you may use it

NHTSA's data is in the public domain. The way we select, score, combine and present it, and our text, design and code, belong to Northwoods Ventures LLC. You may quote individual ratings and short passages with a link back to the page, for example “per UsedScore”. You may not copy the site in bulk, scrape it, republish substantial parts of it, or use it to build a competing product without our written permission.

Car photos belong to their photographers and are used under the public-domain or Creative Commons license credited next to each one. Your use of a photo is governed by that license, not by these terms.

4. Advertising and links

UsedScore may show advertising and link to other websites, including NHTSA and Wikimedia Commons. Advertisers and linked sites are independent third parties; an ad or link is not an endorsement, and their sites are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Advertising never changes the ratings we publish.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use UsedScore to break the law, to interfere with or overload the site, to scrape or copy our content in bulk, to impersonate anyone, or to misrepresent our ratings or where they came from. We may limit or end access for any of these.

6. Disclaimers and limits on our liability

THE SITE, AND EVERYTHING ON IT, IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. RATINGS, COMPLAINT COUNTS, SUMMARIES, RECALL AND BULLETIN INFORMATION, AND SALES FIGURES MAY BE WRONG, INCOMPLETE OR OUT OF DATE. YOU USE THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, NORTHWOODS VENTURES LLC AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AND CONTRACTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROPERTY, PROFITS, INCOME, OR DATA, ARISING FROM THE SITE, ANY RATING OR INFORMATION ON IT, ANY VEHICLE YOU BUY OR DON'T BUY, OR ANY THIRD PARTY YOU REACH THROUGH IT. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100). Some states do not allow some of these limits, so some may not apply to you.

You agree to defend and hold Northwoods Ventures LLC harmless from claims arising from your use of the site, your breach of these terms, or your dealings with any third party you reach through it.

7. Changes and ending the service

We may change these terms. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version. Continued use after a change means you accept it. We may change, suspend, or end any part of the site at any time.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Connecticut, to whose jurisdiction you consent.
